Description:
The 8th Judicial District, the Erie County Department of Mental Health, and the Buffalo Police Department will augment the existing pre- and post- booking alternatives and implement the Mental Health Promising Practice Program, a formal early intervention filtering system for decriminalization efforts for persons with mental illnesses. This will be accomplished using cross-system, collaborative diversionary supports and services that meet the unique needs of individuals with a criminal record and psychiatric disabilities, implementing service components found within the Sequential Intercept Model.
